Terms and Conditions
Last updated: April 2026
These Terms and Conditions govern your relationship with Ripple Effect Rides Co., LTD. and your participation in our tours and events. By completing a booking and making payment, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, our Booking and Cancellation Policy, and our Privacy Policy.
1. Booking and Cancellation
Our full Booking and Cancellation Policy, including payment terms, cancellation fees, deferment options, and no-show conditions for all tour types, is set out in our standalone Booking and Cancellation Policy, available on our website. That policy forms part of these Terms and Conditions and applies in full to all bookings.
2. Donations and Social Impact
A core part of Ripple Effect Rides’ mission is our direct contribution to local partner organisations.
For every Social Impact Day Tour ticket purchased, 10% of the ticket cost is donated directly to a partner of your choice at the time of booking. Donations from Day Tours are disbursed to the relevant partner on the 15th of the following month. If you cancel your day tour within the eligible refund window prior to this disbursement date, your donation component will be refunded in full.
For Custom Tours, a donation to a partner of your choice is included as part of the total tour cost. The specific amount will be outlined in your personalised tour proposal. Donations from Custom Tours are disbursed to the relevant partner in the month following the completion of your tour. If you cancel within the terms of our Booking and Cancellation Policy and your tour has not yet been completed, your donation will be refunded in full along with any other eligible refund amounts.
Once funds have been disbursed to our partner organisations, those donations are final and strictly non-refundable. Disbursed funds are held and managed entirely by the relevant charity. Ripple Effect Rides has no control over or responsibility for how disbursed funds are allocated or used by partner organisations.
3. Fundraising Target (Charity Rides)
If the Charity Ride you have booked has a minimum fundraising target set by the associated cause, that target and its deadline will be confirmed to you in writing at the time of booking by the relevant charity partner.
The management of fundraising targets, including all communications regarding progress and shortfalls, is handled directly by the charity partner associated with your event. Any decision regarding your eligibility to participate based on fundraising performance is made by the charity, not by Ripple Effect Rides. We will act on the instruction of the charity in facilitating any resulting cancellations or deferrals in accordance with our Booking and Cancellation Policy.
Any funds already raised and passed on to the charity partner are held by that organisation and are outside the control of Ripple Effect Rides. Those funds are strictly non-refundable and any queries regarding their use or return should be directed to the relevant charity.
4. Assumption of Risk and Liability
Participation in cycling and outdoor touring activities involves inherent risks, including but not limited to physical injury, accident, adverse weather, road and traffic conditions, equipment failure, and remoteness from medical facilities. By booking with Ripple Effect Rides, you acknowledge and accept these risks.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the total liability of Ripple Effect Rides to any participant shall not exceed the total tour fee paid by that participant. Ripple Effect Rides will not be liable for medical expenses, emergency evacuation costs, or any loss or damage beyond this amount.
Travel insurance
Comprehensive travel insurance covering medical expenses, emergency evacuation, personal injury, and trip cancellation is a mandatory condition of participation in all Charity Rides and multi-day tours. Some insurance providers classify mountain biking as an extreme sport, so participants should confirm that their policy covers this activity specifically. Proof of insurance may be requested prior to the tour start date. Participants who cannot provide adequate proof of insurance will not be permitted to join the tour, and the cancellation policy will apply.
Travel insurance is not a mandatory requirement for day tours or community rides. However, Ripple Effect Rides accepts no liability for medical expenses, personal injury, or loss arising from participation in any tour, regardless of type or duration. Participants join all tours at their own risk and are encouraged to hold appropriate personal insurance cover.
All participants in Charity Rides and Custom Tours are required to complete and submit a Liability Waiver and Release of Responsibility before the tour start date. Failure to do so will result in the participant being unable to join the tour, and the cancellation policy will apply.
5. Force Majeure
Ripple Effect Rides is not liable for any cancellations, delays, or modifications to tours caused by events beyond our reasonable control. These include but are not limited to acts of God, severe weather, natural disasters, pandemics, war, terrorism, civil unrest, government restrictions or travel advisories, and unforeseen road closures.
In the event of a force majeure cancellation, we will make every reasonable effort to offer rescheduling or a credit toward a future tour. Where rescheduling or a credit is not possible, we will endeavour to provide a refund of recoverable costs. We are not obligated to cover any additional expenses you may have incurred, including flights, accommodation, or visa costs.
We will notify you as soon as reasonably practicable if a force majeure event affects your tour.
6. Participant Conduct
For the safety of all participants and out of respect for the local communities we visit, all customers agree to the following standards of conduct throughout their tour.
Guide instructions
You must follow the instructions of your Ripple Effect Rides guides at all times. The Lead Guide holds authority over all tour decisions, including route changes, safety calls, and where necessary, the removal of a participant from the tour. The Lead Guide’s decisions on safety matters are final.
Cultural respect
You must show respect for Cambodian customs, traditions, and communities at all times. This includes dressing modestly when visiting religious sites or villages, and following any guidance from your guide on appropriate behaviour in specific locations.
Child protection
Ripple Effect Rides is committed to the safety and dignity of children in the communities we visit. When visiting schools, community centres, or any location where children are present, participants must not photograph or film children without the explicit permission of a responsible adult such as a parent, guardian, teacher, or NGO staff member. Participants must not give money directly to children, purchase goods from children, or engage in physical contact with children beyond what is culturally appropriate and guide-approved. Any behaviour that puts a child’s safety, dignity, or wellbeing at risk will result in immediate removal from the tour with no refund issued.
Photography in communities
When photographing or filming in villages or community settings, participants must be respectful and follow guide instructions on when and where photography is appropriate. We ask that participants refrain from posting images that identify the location of vulnerable communities or that show community members in an undignified way.
Environmental responsibility
Single-use plastics are not permitted on any Ripple Effect Rides tour. Do not litter and do not remove natural, cultural, or historical items from any site visited.
Alcohol and substances
Participants must not be under the influence of illegal drugs at any time during a tour. Alcohol consumption that results in impairment, or that in the guide’s reasonable judgment compromises the safety of the participant or others, will result in the participant being removed from the tour activity until the guide is satisfied it is safe to continue. In serious cases, the participant may be removed from the tour entirely with no refund issued.
Respectful behaviour
Ripple Effect Rides has a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, discrimination, or abusive behaviour directed at guides, staff, or other participants. Any participant who engages in such behaviour will be removed from the tour immediately with no refund issued.
Removal from tour
The Lead Guide, in consultation with management, reserves the right to remove any participant from a tour at any time for breach of this conduct policy, violation of local laws, or behaviour that poses a risk to the safety or wellbeing of others. No refund will be issued in such circumstances.
7. Photography and Marketing Consent
By participating in a Ripple Effect Rides tour or event, you acknowledge that photographs and video footage may be captured by our guides or staff during the tour. Ripple Effect Rides may use such images and footage for marketing, promotional, and social media purposes.
If you do not wish for your image or likeness to be used in this way, you may submit a written request to info@rippleeffectrides.com at any time, including before or after your tour. We will honour all reasonable opt-out requests and will not knowingly use your image in future published materials following receipt of your request.
8. Eligibility
All participants must be 18 years of age or older. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian aged 18 or older.
The accompanying parent or legal guardian is fully responsible for the safety, wellbeing, and conduct of any participant under 18 years of age throughout the entire tour. The guardian must sign the Liability Waiver on the minor’s behalf. A minor’s own signature on any waiver or agreement is not considered legally valid.
The guardian must follow all guide recommendations regarding the minor’s participation at all times, including placing the minor in the support vehicle if the guide determines it is necessary for their safety or the safety of the group. This may include situations where the minor is fatigued, overheated, unable to keep pace, or otherwise at risk. The guide’s decision in these situations is final and must be respected without dispute on tour.
9. Data and Privacy
Ripple Effect Rides collects and processes personal information in connection with your booking and participation in our tours. Full details of how we collect, use, store, and protect your data, and your rights as a data subject, are set out in our Privacy Policy, available on our website. By booking with us, you confirm that you have read and understood our Privacy Policy.
10. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Cambodia.
11. Complaints
If you have a complaint about any aspect of your experience with Ripple Effect Rides, we encourage you to contact us as soon as possible at info@rippleeffectrides.com. All formal complaints are handled in accordance with our Customer Complaint Policy, which is available on request. We are committed to acknowledging all complaints promptly and resolving them fairly and transparently.
