Overview
Angkor by Bike, Tailored to Your Group
Temple Explorer is our private full-day cycling tour through the Angkor temple complex, designed for travellers who want to experience the world’s greatest archaeological site by bike, on their own terms. With a private guide, a dedicated support tuk tuk, and the flexibility to choose your distance and start time, this is the temples done your way. Unlike the crowded coach tours, you set the pace. Skip the busiest sites at the busiest times, take the jungle trails the buses can’t reach, and stop wherever curiosity strikes. Your guide knows the temples inside out, and just as importantly, knows when to move and when to pause.
Like all our day tours, 10% of every ticket is donated to the partner cause of your choice. The temples have stood for nearly a thousand years. Your ride helps build something for the next generation of Cambodians.
Choose Your Route
We offer three route options, each balancing temple exploration with cycling adventure. Your group picks at booking, based on how you want to spend the day.
- 17km Route, Temple Focus: Three main temples explored on foot (Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm and Bayon) with full guide commentary at each site. Shorter ride, deeper temple immersion. Best for first-time visitors or groups who want maximum time at the iconic sites.
- 30km Route, Balanced Experience: Two main temples explored on foot (Angkor Wat and Ta Prohm). More time cycling between sites and on jungle trails. Best for groups who want to see the temples and enjoy the ride between them in roughly equal measure.
- 50km Route, Jungle Trails Focus: One main temple explored on foot (Angkor Wat or Ta Prohm, your choice). Maximum time on jungle trails, with the ride extending to outer temple loops and forest paths few tourists ever see. Best for keen cyclists who want the adventure as much as the history.
Mountain Bikes Built for the Terrain
All routes use our Cannondale mountain bikes with helmets included. The jungle trails and dirt paths between outer temples are not paved, so a proper mountain bike makes the experience genuinely enjoyable rather than a slog. E-bike upgrades are available for any guest who wants the assist.
Sunrise or Standard Start
Choose at booking. Sunrise starts get you to Angkor Wat for the iconic dawn light, before the coach tours arrive. Standard starts are gentler on the body clock and still give you full temple access with plenty of time at each site.
Add-Ons:
- E-Bike Upgrade $25 (Giant Talon E+3)

Your guide and tuk tuk driver collect you from your hotel within central Siem Reap. Brief introductions, helmet and bike fitting at the Ripple Effect Rides store on the way, and a quick route briefing before we set off.
-
Comfortable tuk tuk ride to the Angkor complex. Your first temple is selected based on your chosen route and start time, with your guide timing the visit to avoid the busiest tour groups.
-
Bikes off the tuk tuk and onto the trails. Your route is now in motion: 17km, 30km or 50km depending on what you booked. Your guide leads at your pace, with the support tuk tuk never far behind for water, snacks or a rest break.
-
17km route: All three main temples (Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm and Bayon) explored on foot with full guide commentary at each site. Around 2-3 hours of foot exploration in total.
30km route: Two main temples explored on foot (Angkor Wat and Ta Prohm). Around 1.5-2 hours of foot exploration, with more time spent on the bike between sites.

After lunch, the second half of your ride continues. Your route winds back through quieter sections of the complex, with your guide choosing the best paths for the time of day. Final stops vary by route, longer routes spend more time on outer trails, shorter routes return to the iconic central temples for a final visit at golden hour.
-
Bikes back on the support tuk tuk for the return ride to your hotel. Your tour concludes back at your accommodation, leaving you the evening to rest, eat and reflect on the day.
